The Aster Tall Matsumoto, 'Callistephus chinensis', is a florist quality cut flower variety with tall, strong stems and an unusual bi-color flower with a yellow center. This Aster has a very long vase life. It will provide an "end-of-the-season pick-me-up" with its dazzling, radiant, medium sized flowers. The 2 inch wide flowers have white petals tipped bright pink with contrasting yellow centers. This plant is excellent as a cut flower and the bright colors look great in any border.

The Black Eyed Susan Vine (Spanish Eyes Blend), 'Thunbergia alata', is a vigorous vine with sunset colored, dark eyed flowers. The Spanish Eyes Blend is a very fast growing vine with a unique blend of warm colors which contrast brilliantly with the dark "Spanish" eyes. The flowers are between 1 and 2 inches wide on a 5 to 10 foot vine. The Black Eyed Susan vine can be grown as a quick screen and as a colorful groundcover. They are excellent in window boxes and hanging baskets.

The Castor Bean Impala, 'Ricinus communis', has fast growing, dramatically tropical, dark bronze foliage. Because all parts of this plant are poisonous, do not plant this near very small children and pets. With this in mind, you will love this plant if you need a tall tropical looking screen. Small scarlet flowers appear on foot-high stalks, followed by prickly husks, which contain brown speckled seeds. The Caster Bean is an excellent quick hedge. The large copper-red leaves are dramatic and tropical looking.

The Chocolate Flower, 'Berlandiera lyrata', has it all. The colorful, fragrant plant attracts butterflies and is drought tolerant and the aroma may either satisfy or intensify your craving for chocolate. This plant is also called chocolate daisy, greeneyes, lyre-leaf greeneyes, and brooch flower. Chocolate Flowers have 1 1/2 inch composite flowers with yellow center rays and a maroon center disk array. Deadhead regularly to extend the bloom season. Plant this flower in groups along a walkway or patio for maximum effect.

The Datura Angel's Trumpet, 'Datura meteloides', has fragrant and showy flowers that open late in the day to enhance the evening garden. If your time only allows you to enjoy an evening garden, then the Datua is the plant. The pale blooms will glow well into the twilight and their scent is heavenly. The flowers are 6 inches long, trumpet-shaped and white in color, tinged with lilac. Take advantage of the heavenly fragrance by planting the Datura close to a window. Note: All parts of this plant are poisonous.

The Grass Pony Tails, 'Stipa tenuissima', is very graceful with a soft fair-colored pony tail, This perennial will come back every year and bloom the first year. Plants do not get anymore graceful than Pony Tails. Pony Tails Grass has soft 8 inch plumes atop the plants. The flower heads appear in the summer. After sowing, flower heads will appear in 16 weeks. Spray the flowers with florist dye to create any color you want. This plant is used for a tall, grassy groundcover and looks very nice in clumps.

The Hyacinth Bean Vine Ruby Moon, 'Dolichos lablab', has purple to white flower clusters followed by eye-catching purple bean pods that make Ruby Moon a very unique addition to your garden. The Bean Vine Ruby Moon provides color all summer long whether from the purple, velvety bean pods, purple and white flowers, or the beautiful foliage. Plant in the spring after the last average frost date. Ruby Moon Bean Vines are used for quick screens, hanging baskets, or as a ground cover.

The Impatiens Swirl, 'Impatiens wallerana', has shimmering pearl colors that are stunning. No shade garden should be without it! The 1 1/2 inch flowers are pink, coral, and peach surrounded by a darker petal margin that distinctively set off each flower. The Swirl Impatiens blooms summer to fall. This plant is also called Busy Lizzie. These plants will flower prolifically in the shade. The Swirl is especially attractive planted in mass, and they can be also grown inside as house plant.

The Marigold Eskimo, 'Tagetes erecta', is new and unique. Eskimo is a white marigold with large, creamy white, double carnation type blooms that are simply stunning. The beautiful blooms are located at knee height on top of the plant. The nice dark green foliage sets off the white flower color. The Eskimo Marigold begins to bloom in late spring and continues to bloom until first frost. Eskimo Marigolds are excellent for edging, in pots and containers and as a ground cover.

The Mina Lobata Spanish Flag, 'Tpomoea lobata', has sprays of crimson flowers that change to orange and yellow, then white, and are suitable of cuttings. The Spanish Flag is related to the morning glory and is sometimes called the Firecracker Vine or Exotic Love plant. This plant has 1 to 2 inch tubular flowers that occur in spikes of up to 12 flowers. The Spanish Flag is used for pots, baskets, climbing up fences, trellises, and ground cover.

The Morning Glory Grandpa Otts, 'Tpomoea tricolor', is a Heirloom variety that is so stunning that it belongs in every old-fashioned garden. The intense, 2 to 4 inch across violet blue flowers, have a vivid, incandescent ruby star on the petals. Grandpa Otts blooms from summer until first frost and will bloom more abundantly during cool weather. Plants started too early are less vigorous than those started later. This excellent vine will cover fences and trellises, grow as ground cover, or hang in large baskets or pots.

The Oxypetalu Southern Star Heavenly Blue,'Oxpetalum caeruleum', displays a color rarely seen in flowers. The intense glacier blue 1 inch flowers are unlike anything you've ever seen. Even the buds are unique with their pale lavender color. The Southern Star also attracts hummingbirds. Heavenly Blue produces very decorative seed pods and they can be overwintered as a houseplant. The Southern Star provides a most unusual cut flower. They also are great in patio containers or hanging baskets.

The Pepper Ornamental, 'Caosicum annuum', is a stunning variegated foliaged pepper with deep purple flowers. Why grow a pepper as an ornamental? Because ornamental peppers, particularly this one, may be the most beautiful plant in your flower garden. The Ornamental Pepper has white, light/medium/dark green variegated foliage with purple veins. Ornamental Peppers can be grown in the garden or grown in a pot to be brought inside when the temperatures begin to drop in the fall.

The Mixed Colors Salvia, 'Salvia splendens', has very unusual intensely colored spikes on dense, deep green plants. This plant has a dramatic appearance in mass plantings, border, and pots. The Mixed Colors Salvia have 6 to 8 inch tall spikes of salmon, rose, scarlet, and violet flowers. This plant will do best in full sun, but will thrive and bloom in partial shade. Plant in the spring after the last killing frost date. This Salvia is easy to grow and makes an excellent border plant and is great in containers or planters.

The Scabiosa Pincushion Flower Isaac House Mix, 'Scabiosa caucasica', is a charming, traditional cottage garden beauty. The blossoms appear as fragile as summer snowflakes but this is a tough, carefree, very hardy plant with few pests or diseases. The flowers are 3 to 4 inches wide and the outer frill of the petals is pink, white, and lavender blue while the center "pincushion" is white with pinkish pins. The Scabiosa is an excellent cut flower, and they lend themselves to be used in formal flower borders and wildflower gardens.

The Moulin Rouge sunflower, 'Helianthus annuus (Hybrid)', is a rich velvety, deep red sunflower. The Moulin Rouge will steal the show in your gardens and bouquets. It is pollenless and is excellent for cutting. It will produce 4 to 6 inch deep red flowers that will produce summer into fall.A second planting 2 weeks after the initial planting and a third planting 2 weeks later will produce attractive foliage and flowers until the first fall frost. It is an excellent cut flower and can be used for a short border.

The Vanilla Ice sunflower, 'Helianthus debilis', produces florist quality cut flowers and is an excellent border plant. The off-white flowers are between 5 and 8 inches wide. The plant is multi-flowered. Vanilla Ice sunflowers are drought tolerant but will take considerable moisture for full flowering. This plant will grow on almost any soil.

The Sweet Pea In the Pink, 'Lathyrus odoratus', is a designer blend of warm shades of pink and highlights of salmon, almond, cerise and mauve. SweetPeas have 1 to 2 inch flowers that are romantically fragrant and are wonderful cut flowers in bunches. In the Pink generally bloom for 3 to 5 weeks. In warm climates, plant in October through January for spring bloom. They are used for cut flowers, ground cover, and wall coverings if given the proper support.

The Sweet Pea Melody Blend, 'Lathyrus odoratus', is a symphony of colors. The Zinnia White Star, 'Zinnia angustifolia', is unlike the Zinnia elegans. White Star Zinnias is a wonderful hanging basket flower. This is an exciting and unusual Zinnia and it is easy to grow. The Zinnia White Star is heat and drought tolerant. Along with its use in hanging baskets, it can be grown as an annual groundcover or used as a perennial in mild climates. The pure white fowers provide excellent contrast in color, especially at dusk when they appear to glow.

The Bee Balm Dotted Mint, 'Monarda lambada', is a variety of Bee Balm that has a unique and dramatic flower cluster. To protest tea taxes, the original colonists drank Bee Balm tea. The Dotted Mint has a pleasant odor of mint and basil and it attracts hummingbirds. Plant in the spring about 2 weeks before last average frost date or in late summer/early fall at least 2 months before first frost. This Bee Balm is used for cut flowers and is edible. It can be used to make tea or chopped and added to recipes for duck and pork.

The Dahlia Delight Mix, 'Dahlia variabilis', is a fabulous dwarf Dahlia with long lasting blooms that will provide a continuous supply of cut flowers for your summer bouquets. The Larkspur American Flag, 'Consolida ambigua', has vivid blends of red, white, and blue. The Larkspur will add beauty and a patriotic flair to your garden. In most areas, this Larkspur Blend will bloom around Flag Day. The red, white and blue 1/4 to 1/2 inch flowers are densely packed on tall stems. The American Flag Larkspur blooms in mid spring to early summer. Larkspur are excellent for cut or dried flowers and as backdrop plant in front of a fence or wall.
